Welcome to the project website for

Umma More Renewable Energy Development

About the Project

This website has been prepared by MKO on behalf of Umma More Ltd. with respect to an application to An Bord Pleánala for planning permission to construct a renewable energy development in the townland of Umma More, and adjacent townlands, Co. Westmeath. The proposed development is being brought forward in response to local, national, regional and European policy regarding Ireland’s transition to a low carbon economy, associated climate change policy objectives and to reduce Ireland’s dependence on imported fossil fuels for the production of electricity.

The proposed renewable energy development will comprise the construction of 9 No. wind turbines with a blade tip height of 185 metres and all associated infrastructure and works. The proposal meets the threshold for wind energy set out in the Seventh Schedule of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, on foot of a notice issued by An Bord Pleanála (the Board) and is therefore being submitted directly to the Board as a Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) in accordance with Section 37E of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.

An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) have been prepared in relation to the proposal and accompany the planning application for the proposed development submitted to the Board.
